Wedding Updates- 40 days before the wedding

There has been a lot going on in my life lately. I have a lot of things on my plate with the marriage preparations going on in full swing. This post is all about how my wedding planning is working, what things are already done and what is still pending. Whooff!! I still have few things pending but thankfully majority is off the list for now.  🙂

#1 Venue-

The marriage is supposed to be in Noida and since there weren’t a lot of options available when we were finalizing the venue, we chose a banquet hall which fits our budget, has parking available which seems to be a big issue with the other options and is centrally located so that the guests don’t find it difficult to locate it. We are still in the process of finalizing the decorations for the hall, hopefully this should be done before the end of this month.

#2 Wedding Lehenga-

I had ordered my wedding lehenga on 30th December and am yet to receive the choli for stitching. They delayed the delivery by almost a week saying that the workers find it difficlut to do the embroidery in winters. Well you might be thinking why I didn’t let them stitch it for me. I had a bad experience in the past with one of my lehengas that I had ordered for a cousin’s wedding. The lehenga was very pretty but they choli had a sad fitting. Despite several alterations, I still couldn’t get it altered the way I wanted to because that would spoil the work. I cannot take such chances with my wedding lehenga so I am getting it done from a place where I got my engagement blouse stitched.  I will be heading off to Chandni chowk in the coming week to take the delivery. Fingers crossed! I hope they don’t delay my wedding lehenga like they did for the choli.

#3 Trousseau shopping

My parents want to give me 11 saris in my trousseau. Well, I already have 7 sarees which they had bought me during the course of almost a year. It includes Assamese Silk, Bhagalpuri Silk and several other varieties of silk. The sarees are lovely however I want some net, georgette and tissue sarees too. So finally I have to buy 4 saris of my choice. I have ordered one online. I know nobody orders wedding sarees online, but with the limited time and resources this was the best I could do. The delivery would take almost 4 weeks. Hope it’s the same saree as shown in the picture. I also need to shop for some regular wear suits and sarees.  Apart from this, my wedding banarasi and sari for haldi is all done. I bought the banarasi from Roop Sarees (South Ex) and the haldi sari from Greenways (South Ex). They have a 20% discount running so check it before it ends!

#4 Jewelry shopping

The biggest expense after the venue is now done. I am really relived with this achievement. I am so finicky about my wedding jewelry that it took me 5 days to finalize it. My parents were really tired and frustrated as they had checked out every place from CP to Noida, Ghaziabad to South Ex. Finally I bought the entire jewelry from RS Jewellers, South Ex. They have really nice collection and was really impressed with their customer service. I am planning to wear gold jewelry on my wedding, so it had to be the best. No wonder it was worth the wait!

#5 My Experiments with my face

Last weekend I got my first cleanup done. It was Sophy’s face cleanup done at Hair Café, Lajpat Nagar. It’s close to my place and I love their pedicure, manicure sessions. Well it might sound absurd but I haven’t ever visited a parlor for getting done anything on my face, so wanted to give it a try. Well my face is still the same. It’s a bit cleaner so my dark circles have become more prominent. However I have finally gotten rid of the few blackheads I had on my nose, which is great. I have also started applying FabIndia’s Neem and Tulsi mud pack daily and it feels great. Would also be trying honey pack in days to come. Will keep you posted on the beauty regime. Apart from this, I would also be visiting Kaya Skin Clinic soon. One of my friends got her face polishing done from Kaya, Noida and she was loved it. We all did. She was a pretty glowing bride. 🙂

#6 Weight Loss

My friends at office and I had started off with a new diet 19 days back. Its called LCHF. You can read more about it here. It’s not that I am overweight but I want to look slimmer before my wedding so I started off with it. I have lost 2 kgs ever since without any exercise. Since its really cold in Delhi now, I am not able to start off with my Yoga routine. Hopefully, it should start off soon. I know it’s really late now.

#7 Wedding cards

The wedding cards are done now. Chawri Bazar is like a paradise for wedding cards. You can find tons of shops selling wedding cards here. The prices are reasonable and they normally charge Rs10 for printing three pages. Check them out. 🙂

#8 Wedding Photographers

I met one of the renowned photographers of Delhi who is really famous for candid pictures. Since ours is almost a 12 hours affair, we were being charged around 1.5 lacs for just the candid pictures. When my brother and I went to meet the photographer, we were also carrying the 50% booking amount in cash to save on the additional 12.6% service tax. He showed us few pictures of the wedding. While the pictures were good, they weren’t as great as compared to the other photographers I had contacted. There was nothing extraordinary about them wrt to the other candid photographs I had seen during my research. During the conversation, he said that he wouldn’t be there for the wedding if we don’t book the video through them which was for another 2 lacs. My fiance and I are the ones paying for the candid photography and this quote was way beyond our budget. Also, he mentioned that his assistants would be covering the shoot and he would be just editing the pictures. To top it all, he never mentioned that he is going for another wedding on the same date and wouldn’t be in Delhi on my wedding. If this wasn’t enough, he also said that the pictures wouldn’t be that glamorous as the pictures he had just shown since my guests are based out of Bihar and Jharkhand. I just lost it after hearing this. It wasn’t worth it and I had to explore other options.

Finally, I came across a set of exciting photographers called Dreamweavers. You can check their pictures out here. They have lovely pictures, are receptive to client’s requirements, understand parent’s expectations, respect your family and relatives, had a great package which included everything and was ECONOMICAL. I thank my stars to meet them. No wonder they are now booked!  🙂

What’s pending- Venue decoration, Mehndi artist, Honeymoon bookings, Visas, Getting all blouses stitched, getting falls on sarees and the list goes on. I know, a lot is still pending but I am happy with the progress so far. We also rolled out our facebook invite for our friends today. With only 40 days to go, I am super EXCITED!!
