Shashi Kapoor receives Dadasaheb Phalke Award
Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor, 77, is the third Kapoor from the clan to receive the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award. He was unable to attend the award ceremony at Delhi due to ill health and was bestowed with the award at the Prithvi theatre in Mumbai by Arun Jaitley, the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister. High Court suspends Salman Khan’s sentence
The Mumbai High Court on Friday suspended Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s prison sentence while he appeals his conviction in a fatal hit-and-run case, which occurred in September 2002. The court allowed him to remain free until his appeal hearing in July. He is not allowed to leave the country during this time without permission. Salman Khan was sentenced to five years in prison for running over several men sleeping on a pavement in Mumbai, and killing one of them. Read more
