5 Step DIY Home Pedicure

5 step diy home pedicure

Visiting a salon for a pedicure can be quite a curative experience but not for those who have little or no time or money to invest in pampering those tired and worn out feet.

With summer comes the launch of flip flops and those strappy sandals that expose our dainty feet to the harsh rays of the sun and of course ground dirt. During the summer, it is imperative to pay extra care to feet and pamper them if you must. One solid way of taking care of our feet is by regularly performing a detox foot soak that cleanses, nourishes and soothes the feet preventing callouses and splinters from destroying our foot appeal making it difficult to exploit summer footwear.

Home pedicures are cheaper and effective if followed typically. When too much exposure destroys the balance making our feet unhealthy and dusty, it is time for a pedicure.

DIY Home Pedicure Procedure:

With this simple homemade detox  procedure you can easily get your feet summer ready. Here is our go to DIY home pedicure that will help you kick start your foot pedicure for the season.

Step 1 Clean:

With a non-acetone based nail polish remover make sure your toe nails are polish free. Next using clippers, neatly trim your nails and file them to your liking.

Step 2 Soak:

Fill a bucket with lukewarm water and immerse your feet to soak and soften your nails. Add few drops of essential oils like peppermint or lemon and some soft beach pebbles or pretty flowers to infuse the spa like experience to provide a gentle underfoot massage that pampers and destroys bacteria at the same time. Soak and relax your feet for about 20 minutes to loosen dead skin cells and dirt. Remove feet from the soak and dry them with a towel.

Step 3 Exfoliate:

Exfoliating is important at this stage. Using a foot scrub gently scrub off the dry and dead skin cells.

To make your own homemade salt scrub here is one recipe that you can prepare and store.

Soothing Salt + Peppermint Foot Scrub

Take 1 cup of granulated white sugar and add few drops of coconut oil to obtain a grainy consistency along with few drops of peppermint essential oil. Transfer to a bottle and use in shower to exfoliate, moisturize and soothe sore feet.

After exfoliating the feet, gently immerse them in clean lukewarm water and rinse.

Step 4 Moisturize:

Rinse your feet clean and then onto moisturizing to soften and hydrate the skin and protect it from cracking. It is crucial to massage the feet regularly to improve blood circulation and keep nerve endings stimulated apart from nourishing the skin and muscles. Shea butter is the best moisturizer for your feet that helps to reduce swelling.

Step 5 Flaunt:

Now you are ready to flaunt your perfectly pedicured feet. Apply a base coat and let it dry before you paint your toenails and sport your favorite summer sandals.

Who needs to spend big bucks at the salon when you have the basics sorted out to give yourself an effective pedicure? Go ahead and pamper your feet and they will thank you for the same. Follow the tips regularly to achieve best results.
